Abstract: The article describes the chief sources of income of the rural population with precarious income. It discusses the situation taking into consideration the most important factors influencing the possession of any source of income. Pearson’s chi-squared test (χ2) resulted in the observation that the sex, age, number of people in the household, the area of the country and education are decisive factors to the character of the main source of income. The article also describes the methods of supplementation of the existing sources of income if it is impossible to satisfy one’s needs. The article briefly discusses the possibility to find employment outside agriculture and the chance for any employment which could be treated as permanent.
